Harvey Terenure Nursing Home has a combination of single and sharing accommodation.

Our shared rooms provide company for residents but have dividing curtains to ensure privacy and dignity. We do not have a bath in the Nursing Home.

All rooms have call bell systems and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms.

The main role of every staff nurse and healthcare assistant is to provide twenty-four hour care to all residents. Our aim in our Nursing Homes is to be a centre of excellence for older person care. Our objective is to care for residents utilising evidence – based best practice.

In view of this, all nursing and healthcare assistant staff adhere to national and international evidence based policies, procedures and standards when caring for residents in our Nursing Home. Healthcare assistants support nursing staff by assisting in daily activities including hygiene, mobility, nutrition and social recreation.

The Nursing Homes provides all residents with showering facilities and assistance with personal healthcare.

The Nursing Home takes into account the resident’s interests, hobbies, experiences, personality as well as the resident’s medical condition. Our Nursing Home offers a wide range of activities designed to encourage the resident to keep mobile, and most importantly, take an interest in life.

Within our Nursing home there is a key staff member who has a specific focus of nurturing and supporting Harvey Healthcare’s philosophy of a person centered approach to care. This person works closely with our Director of Nursing to support this philosophy through the implementation of purposeful activities, staff training and development as well as providing advisory support for a dementia friendly social environment.

Activities take place on a daily basis and the timetable displayed but there are many ‘ad hoc’ activities that take place depending on how residents’ wishes.

Harvey Healthcare provide Person centred Care Plans in all our Nursing Homes

Person centred care is treatment and care provided by health services that places the person at the centre of their own care and considers the needs of the older person’s carers. Person centered care creates a home-like environment for residents.

Residents, relatives or advocates will be offered the choice to be involved in the development of their care plan. These care plans will be reviewed every three month or more frequently if required. Residents will be notified of any review.

We therefore see our care embracing the physical, social and spiritual aspect of each person. Pastoral care arrangements will be provided according to the resident’s individual wishes and Ministers of Religion will be made welcome in the Nursing Home and Mass is celebrated in the Nursing Home on a weekly basis and there is also a Eucharistic Service

Terenure is located south of Harold’s Cross and north of Rathfarnham, and partially contained in the Dublin 6, Dublin 6W and Dublin 12 postal districts. Terenure borders the suburbs of Templeogue, Rathgar, Harold’s Cross, Kimmage and Rathfarnham.

Terenure is a suburb of Dublin city proper, and its southern boundary, delineated partly by the River Dodder, is also part in places of the administrative boundary between Dublin City Council and South Dublin County Council. In times past, Terenure Cross (Vaughan’s Corner) was a terminus for the city trams, and is mentioned as such in Ulysses (Episode 7, Aeolus), but it has been bypassed by the redevelopment of modern trams in Dublin (the Luas lines). There were three tram depots in Terenure at one time, the main tram depot for the number 15 DUTC trams in Terenure Road East, another DUTC depot for number 16 trams in Rathfarnham Road, and the terminus of the Dublin & Blessington Steam Tramway on Templeogue Road.
