Job Specification

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents in compliance with HIQA Standards & Regulations.

• To ensure that set standards and legislative requirements for resident care are attained and exceeded.
• To ensure the development of a person-centred model of care which is driven by a respect for the rights of older people and are focused on quality of life measures meaningful to individual residents.
• You will be expected to lead and manage an enthusiastic team to work to their potential.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must have past experience as Director of Nursing or Assistant DON.
• Must be registered with An Bord Altranais
• 3 years post-registration experience in a nursing home environment.
• Must have significant management experience
• Excellent people skills
• Thorough knowledge of HIQA standards and regulations
• Excellent Interpersonal & Communication Skills
• Computer Skills

One Year Contract subject to renewal

Shifts are rostered Monday to Sunday and will include Night duty

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• To plan and deliver a high standard of individualised care.
• To work effectively and efficiently in terms of time management, personal organisation and adherence to organisational policies and work procedures.
• To lead and manage performance of a multidisciplinary team.
• To cultivate positive relationships with residents and facilitate autonomy.
• To participate in quality development and audit.
• Practice professional and responsible health care.

The ideal Candidate:

• Previous Experience of employment in the sector
• Must be registered with An Bord Altranais
• Must have Garda Clearance
• Must be able to provide 3 written references
• Good knowledge of HIQA standards.
• Must be familiar with Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) and regulations
• Must have fluent level of English both written and oral

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow daily allocation duties in a professional and caring manner
• May include a couple of hours Laundry, all hours are done on a rotational basis

The ideal Candidate:

• Must have FETAC level 5 or other relevant qualification
• All successful candidates will be Garda Vetted
• Must be able to provide 3 written references
• Good knowledge of HIQA standards.
• Must be familiar with Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People.
• Must have fluent level of English both written and oral
