MRI
NOW ACCEPTING EXTERNAL MRI REFERRALS FOR MUSKULOSKELETAL
Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, uses a magnetic field and a sophisticated computer system to give reliable and detailed images of the body. In orthopedics, we use MRI for high quality images of soft tissue areas such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles. Our new MRI machine produces very clear images of the extremities, including the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, foot, and ankle.
When evaluating your injury, an X-ray will show bone damage (such as fractures), bone spurs, and other hard tissue findings. In orthopedics, we might use an MRI to see what an X-ray can’t show us, such as torn ligaments, tendons, or muscles.
The results of your MRI are then used to rule out or confirm a diagnosis, and possibly reduce the need for exploratory surgery or other diagnostic procedures. Our MRI machine was designed with your comfort in mind by providing spacious, stress-free accommodations for claustrophobic patients.
To get more information on scheduling your MRI, call (719) 867-7315. High-field MRIs are conducted at our North Campus office in suite 105. We offer early morning, evening, and Saturday hours for your convenience.
